NEWS
5/16/2004:  The site has recently migrated from core.com (which used to be Voyager.net, which used to be execpc.com).  Still working through some of the kinks of the move.  Don't have yabb up yet.  And the mailing list processing will change, as well.  But the essentials are here.

12/16/2003:  Updated the page with newer CPU's, added NEC LCD monitors (nice monitor, inexpensive, and 3-year warranty from NEC).  Added LSI SCSI controllers to replace several Adaptecs.  Replaced Red Hat Linux w/ SuSE.  A few other odds and ends.  Oh, and I purchased an "Atomic" wall clock for the store ($20 at Walgreens).  It has the three hands a wall clock normally has, but they are automatically set and adjusted via a radio-wave receiver that picks up the transmission from the U.S. Naval Observatory.  So my wall clock is now within +/- .3 seconds of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).  Visit www.time.gov for more info.

4/11/2003:  No news is good news?  Could that be the reason why I never add anything here?  Or could it be that I'm too busy and never find time?  Maybe I don't think I'm terribly good at writing this kind of stuff, so I avoid it.  In any event, I haven't added anything here in over a year.  And thankfully, visitors don't assume this is a dead site.
I've been amused that nobody ever posts anything to the discussion board.  I had originally thought the discussion board would be reassuring to new customers.  That, we don't have anything to hide and that they can order with confidence.  Now I'm beginning to wonder if new customers don't just think we have nothing at all. That, not only don't we have skeletons in the closet, we don't have a closet!  I assure you, we have closets!  Large, walk-in closets.  :-)
In any event, the lack of interest in the discussion board is entirely my fault.  I'm as guilty (more!) as anyone for not posting anything there.  I'll get on that.
I've added a bunch of stuff to the build page, and more is on the way.  If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them info@cgallery.com.

2/24/2002:  Well, we've finally updated the site with a discussion board (click on "Talk").  Yes, we're starting simple (just a "General" topic so far).  And we've got some work left to integrate it into our "look and feel."
We're somewhat hopeful that the board will eventually serve to assure tire kickers that they can order from us with confidence.  That, we've got lots of happy customers, and we're not scared of "hanging our laundry out."  If people ask their "how to" questions in public and we've only got to answer them once (or better yet, someone else answers them), then all the better.
Future plans include additional topics (once they make sense).  We will also add some sort of "Technical Notes" topic where we can provide tips on getting the most from your computer, as well as answers to frequently asked questions (of a technical nature).

2/20/2002:  Wow, it has been a long time since updating this news.  We've just been too busy.  We're now updating the page with (hopefully) useful changes.   A few items to note:  We're adding more MSI motherboards (people keep asking for them).  We've also found ourselves unable to get Fujitsu IDE hard drives (Fujitsu now only makes SCSI).  We've filled the void with Maxtor and Seagate.

7/24/2001:  Added this "news" page.  :-)  Also, added new CPU options, RAM options, and dropped IBM drives from the build page (due to reliability issues).
We've been using Fujitsu and Seagate drives in place of the IBM drives for a couple of months w/ barely a single DOA (knock on wood).  The new IBM 60GXP drives were coming in with a 25% DOA rate.  We were experiencing everything from bad sectors to noisy bearings to just plain dead drives.  The SCSI drives were more reliable, but the failure rates were increasing for those, too.  One year ago, if you would have asked if I thought it possible that we would ever replace IBM drives due to reliability issues, we would have laughed at the thought.  Oh well.
