Welcome to my Sanyo Xacti C1/C4 & Fisher FVD-C1 appreciation page!

Feb. 23, 2005:  I've added several samples.  These are not Oscar-quality productions.  Rather, they are to demonstrate the functionality of the camera.
The first set is from the oscaraustria.com site, which appears to be down.  I've posted his samples in a forum message.  I've also posted some samples of how image stabilization works.  Feel free to take a look at the samples and ask questions or point out other techniques that would be more worthwhile.  I'll be posting more IS and some noise reduction samples soon.

Feb. 19, 2005:  Discussion forum now online.  Join-in and discuss your Sanyo/Fisher camera, send me stuff to post, give us your tips and ideas.

Feb. 18, 2005.  Some time in the spring of 2004, a gentleman entered my computer store and asked for a mini-USB cable to connect his new digital camcorder.  I asked if he had the camera with him, and he reached into his pocked and produced the smallest digital video camera I had ever seen.  He told me it worked as a three megapixel still camera, but that it also shot near-DVD quality full motion video.  It was all solid state (data stored on SD card).  WOW, WAS I IMPRESSED.  I didn't have the correct cable, but did start researching the cameras a little bit (via Google).  I knew it was made by Fisher, and soon discovered the model # was FVD-C1.
Later that year I was getting ready for a trip to Washington D.C. with the fam(ily).  I had a Canon digital Elph for still photos.  But I thought it would be nice to have some video from the trip, too.  So I purchased, at the very last minute (from Sears, at a horendous price, but I was lucky to find one) an FVD-C1.  I used it quite a bit on that trip, and I'm extremely pleased with the video and stills I captured.
I had found a site (http://www.oscaraustria.com/reviews/fvdc1/) that had samples of the video shot from the camera, and had convinced myself that it was perfect for me.  His samples were outstanding, and strongly influenced my decision to purchase the camera.  His site has been down for a few months now, so I've decided that someone else needs to pickup where he left off and that is what I'm doing here.
So stop by here for samples and updates, and join the discussion forum.

Thanks!
Phil
